Carpenter Leaderman Job at North Florida Shipyards, Inc – 2.9 Jacksonville, FL


SUMMARY: Supervise all aspects of various marine carpentry/insulator projects including constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes, by performing the following duties. Full-Time/ Hourly.

Must be able to lead the department of anywhere from three to 15 employees in all aspects of ship repair.

Communicates contract requirements, specifications, and customer expectations to all departments and subcontractors to ensure incorporation into overall Company objectives.

Executes contracts in compliance with local, state & federal safety and environmental guidelines.

Prepares project reports for management, identifying variances to project plan that may need immediate management attention.

Ensures establishment of the integrated project plan including detailed production schedules and budgets to ensure a smooth implementation during each phase of the plan.

Thorough knowledge of NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, and other guidelines, specifications, requirements.

Leads the project team to improve knowledge and skill levels in relevant subjects and processes.

Initiates and builds collaborative professional relationships with internal and external customers.

Works with minimal direction independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others.

Ability to effectively communicate professionally, provide training wherever and whenever required, and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers-both internal and external.

Possess a valid driver’s license.

Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation. ·

Carpenter Certifications are a plus.

Any other duties assigned.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

At least 5-10 years of related experience and/or training.

Ability to read speak write and understand English to a level that allows good and safe communication between coworkers, supervisors, and customers and the ability to correctly interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications pertaining to carpentry functions.


Personal Protective Equipment to include hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes are required.
